ArtFields was founded in 2013 to revitalize Lake City, bring access to the arts to an underserved area, and celebrate artists living and working in the South. The flagship event turns the town into a gallery with artists competing for $100,000 in prizes. There’s also rotating exhibitions in three galleries, a public art collection, and art education for local youth.

Moore Farms Botanical Garden is wildly beautiful, creative and soulful; a place of both inspiration and comfort, where plants rule and there is a feeling of discovery, a sense of hitting upon something that others haven’t.

The Marion County Museum strives to put the pieces of the county’s history together. Featured exhibits are Francis Marion, Reverend Senator Clementa Pinckney, Communities of Marion County, Schooling Through the Ages, Home Life, and much more!

Located on the site of the 1823 courthouse, the Marion County Records Building was completed in 1903. Its architectural style is adapted from the late Romanesque revival that influenced the design of many public buildings of that period. The building is fireproof and houses the archives of the county.

Located in the South Carolina Sandhills region and named after the blackwater Little Pee Dee River, Little Pee Dee State Park is a quiet setting for those who want to enjoy the park’s natural features or fish the still waters of 54-acre Lake Norton for bream, bass, and catfish. With its easy access to Interstate 95, and picnicking and camping amenities, Little Pee Dee is popular with coastal travelers and locals alike.

Delve into the history and heritage of Dillon County at the Dillon County Museum. Located in Latta, this museum showcases fascinating exhibits and artifacts that offer insight into the region’s past.

Constructed in 1911, the Dillon County Courthouse is a beaux-arts brick and stone, neoclassical structure featuring a colossal central ionic portico with dual flanking wings. It is one of six courthouses in South Carolina designed by architect William Augustus Edwards, who designed numerous public buildings in the early 20th century, including the Withers Building at Winthrop University and Currell College at the University of South Carolina. An exhibition of photographs tracing Dillon County history is featured on the courthouse’s top floor.

The Pee Dee River is large and wild. It runs through 175 miles of South Carolina and offers diverse scenery along a winding course from the Piedmont, through the Sandhills and Coastal Plain, and into the Coastal Zone. The river floodplain and adjacent uplands contain large acreages of wild and undeveloped forest land, wetlands, and open waters that provide excellent habitat for a variety of wildlife species. The Pee Dee River provides recreational boating and fishing opportunities and many other nature-based recreations that are valued by the public.

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is home to more than 3,000 magnificent and fascinating animals and one of the nation’s most beautiful and inspiring botanical gardens. The lush 170-acre site features dynamic natural habitat exhibits, scenic river views, spectacular valley overlooks, and significant historic landmarks.
